A former expert at the Presidential Strategic Watch Council with the rank of advisor to the president (2020–2021), Marius Mihigo has acted on behalf of AVZ Minerals since June 2022. His task has been to defend its rights to one of the world’s largest lithium deposits, Manono (400 million t). According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), the mineral is attracting great interest, with demand set to increase 42-fold between now and 2040. This demand is driving the Chinese giant Zijin Mining, claiming rights to the project.
