The Gabonese state paid a symbolic one CFA franc to Comilog (a subsidiary of the French group Eramet) for the Maboumine exploration and pre-development mining project. Indeed, for many years, the group has struggled unsuccessfully to bring Maboumine (76% Comilog – 24% State before the deal) to an industrial phase due to several technical and economic reasons.
