The focus in the land of the Pharaohs’ geological exploration remains predominantly an oil jurisdiction and is under-explored in terms of mining. At stake for Barrick – which has been active in Egypt for two years – is its ability to influence the development of future legislation in the sector, which will govern the future level of income of the Canadian group.
