World Bank resumes commitments to Mali
The sanctions against Mali, recently lifted by ECOWAS and UEMOA after the 2021 coup d’état, had halted the country’s repayments to the World Bank. These have now resumed, and the donor has decided to continue supporting the country’s economy.

This is a breather for the junta in Mali. The World Bank, which suspended its commitments after the coup d’état of 24 May 2021 and the subsequent sanctions of ECOWAS and UEMOA, has decided to resume its disbursements.
