Kinshasa pre-selects majors – SAPREF (Shell/BP) and YASREF (Aramco/Sinopec) – for $55m hydrocarbons contract

Backed by the Budget Ministry, which authorised a restricted call for tenders for the supply of petroleum products, Marie-Paule Mukadi, head of the Société nationale des hydrocarbures du Congo (Sonahydroc), invited nine traders to bid for a petrol, diesel and paraffin supply contract.

The order is worth $55 million, an amount that attracted several candidates, including such as SAPREF, the joint venture between Shell and BP and Yanbu Aramco Sinopec Refining Company Ltd (YASREF), co-owned by the two Saudi giants Aramco and China’s Sinopec.
