Some 97% of the staff working at Tasiast – the flagship gold mine in the global giant’s portfolio – are Mauritanian. This is partly due to the company’s “Mauritanisation” programme launched in 2016. But the head of state wants to go further in distributing the economic benefits of the giant gold mine company.
