For Edith Jiya, head of Old Mutual Malawi, the challenge is to reduce exposure to a 35-year private-public partnership (PPP) agreement with the local government. Last year, Old Mutual – which operates in several sectors, including insurance and investment – initialled a contract with the Malawian authorities to build a total of 4,700 student accommodation units through its subsidiary OMIG Student Accommodation Limited.
