Orion is a key shareholder of Allied Gold Corp, which made a mark at the end of January by acquiring Endeavour Mining‘s Agbaou gold mine in Cote D’Ivoire for $80 million. In January, Allied Gold took over AngloGold Ashanti and Iamgold‘s Sadiola gold mine for $105 million. Orion has just signed a non binding term sheet with Robert Friedland‘s Ivanhoe Mines for a US $ 300 million streaming facility for the Platreef project in South Africa.
