Two areas of development are in the pipeline for AK Life Sciences Limited – better known under its brand name, Abacus Pharma – the Ugandan company sold by pan-African company AfricInvest to The Carlyle Group ($221bn under management) in September 2018. The initial priority concerns a strengthening of Abacus’ core business – drug distribution. Accustomed to transporting items produced in China and India to its African markets, the group plans to reinforce its regional network by renting new warehouses beyond those it already owns in Uganda (its main asset, measuring over 4,000 sqm), Tanzania and Burundi.
