COS-Petrogaz works to forge ahead with projects in Senegal
As Senegal confronts longer timelines for its major hydrocarbon extraction projects – particularly for Greater Tortue, led by BP, and for Sangomar, spearheaded by Woodside, whose start-up dates have been pushed back to 2022 and 2023, respectively – the Strategic Orientation Committee for Oil & Gas (COS-Petrogaz) has stepped up its consultations. Its goal: avoid additional delays.

Directly under the responsibility of the President of Senegal, Macky Sall, this body created in October 2016 has been headed ever since by Permanent Secretary Ousmane Ndiaye, who previously was Managing Director of Petrosen, assisted by Deputy Permanent Secretary Mamadou Fall Kane, who formerly served as the president’s economic and finance adviser. Both also hold positions as special advisers to President Sall.
