Africa’s leading telecommunications supplier, China’s Huawei, has reached a new milestone in its strategy to increase the proportion of Africans in its management team. Operating on the continent since 1997, the group, which generated around $6bn in revenue across Africa in 2019, has 9,000 employees, 75% of whom are locals. However, according to Jeune Afrique Business+ sources, the giant will for the first time entrust two African executives with a broader range of regional responsibilities.
