Unpacking the Port Authority of Cotonou’s capital increase

The Port Authority of Cotonou (PAC), headed by Belgian national Joris Thys, is currently carrying out a capital increase of 234 billion CFA francs (€357m), thereby raising its capital from 16 to 250 billion CFA francs (€24 to €382m).

The capital increase, as Jeune Afrique reported on 25 February, is being carried out by incorporating the PAC’s estates into its assets, which allows it to increase its debt and investment capacity.
